Immigration: Same-sex couples can marry in NY even if one partner is here illegally

Q. My partner is living here without legal status. We want to marry. What identification must he show for us to get a marriage license? I’m gay and a U.S. citizen. My partner and I have been together for seven years. Though he’s been here for more than 13 years, and he has held the same job since day one, he does not have legal status.
