Thailand ready for first SEA Games match
Thailand’s SEA Games football team arrived in Laos yesterday ready to defend their title at the 25th SEA Games in Vientiane.
The Thailand squad arrive at Wat Tai airport in Laos yesterday.
Thailand face a tough game against Vietnam in their opening match on Wednesday at the Laos National Stadium.
Head coach Steve Darby and assistant Kiatisak Senamuang are looking forward to the challenge.
“The shape of the team now is very good,” said Darby.
“We had some useful warm-up matches and showed good form against Sri Lanka who we beat 2-0.”
Darby said the team were very fit and ready for action.
“The team has great potential and have garnered some good experience after playing in the Thai Premier League,” he said.
He expected Vietnam and Singapore to be among the stronger teams in the tournament.
Striker Teerasil Dangda said he was suffering from a minor ankle injury but expects to be fit for the Vietnam encounter.
