Rain continues in Thailand’s north, northeastern regions
A high pressure weather system from China is still covering Thailand’s north and northeastern regions, causing heavy rainfall in some areas in both regions, while high waves are expected in the Gulf of Thailand, the Meteorological Department announced today.
Scattered thundershowers are anticipated in the South while waves in the Gulf from Surat Thani province downwards are expected to be higher than two metres, it said. Small fishing trawlers should take special precautions during the next few days.
The high pressure ridge covering northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea is expected to weaken between February 5-7, causing lesser rainfall in the region while waves in the Gulf would also weaken.
The high pressure will return and cover northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea between February 8-9 and would cause scattered showers in the region, it added.
