Temperatures drop on popular mountaintops
As temperatures dropped to five degrees Celsius on many mountaintops including Chiang Mai’s Doi Inthanont and the winter season’s first frost was spotted at Doi Ang Khang, visitors to the north were warned to wrap up well.
Northern weather forecaster, Pornnapa Thongthep said the high pressure system from China had extended its ridge to cover Thailand, causing some gusty rainfall in some places and cold weather with morning fog throughout the north. The temperature would continue to drop another 12 degrees for the next thee to four days.
The minimum temperature was 13 degrees and the maximum temperature was 15C, she said. However, it was very cold in the mountains with a minimum temperature of six to 10C, especially at the summit of Doi Inthanont in Chom Thong district that was measured yesterday morning at five degrees. She urged visitors to closely follow the weather reports and wear warm clothes.
The top of Doi Aang Khang in Fang district measured five degrees causing the first morning frost covering the field inside the Royal Project agriculture station
