cattle diseases in Thailand’s southern Krabi and Phang-nga Provinces is now under control
KRABI, Jan 25 (Bernama) — An outbreak of cattle diseases in Thailand’s southern Krabi and Phang-nga Provinces is now under control, the Thai News Agency (TNA) reported Wednesday, quoting local livestock officials.
About 1,300 cattle in Krabi have been infected with the foot and mouth disease, while about 120 cattle in Phang-nga Province have died over the past week from swollen necks.
The livestocks officials said that the outbreak was caused by movements of cattle by local villagers, some of which were carriers of the diseases.
According to the news agency, disinfectants have been sprayed in all areas at risk and cattle movements have been banned.
The situation is now under control and the provinces would be free from the diseases within 1-3 weeks, TNA quoted the local officials as saying.
